Almost halfway through October and haven't heard any firm details. What's up?

I spoke with the organizer on Monday of this week and expressed my concerns about having it this year and how the numbers would be way low. Being Mid-October already doesn't allow enough people to formulate plans for this kind of event.

They are getting back to me tomorrow to see where we can move forward.

The latest word is that it has already been pushed till Mid-February at the earliest.

Personally, I think having it in March is the best idea. More players will be gearing up for Vegas and participation will be greater.

I'll post the second I know more!

The State Tournament has been pushed past February of 2010 at the earliest!

A few years back the State Tournament always ran in March. This turned out to be the best time as more players were getting geared up for Vegas in May.

BREAKING NEWS

The AZBCA State Tournament has been pushed out even further. Negotiations broke down between the possible host location and Bad Boy Productions in regards to hosting the event in Mid February.

It is now being reported that BBP is looking at locations and dates in April 2010.

Hopefully we'll have some more information soon so players can plan ahead and help grow this tournament.

Bad Boy Productions runs numerous other state tournaments across the country. States like Minnesota and Wisconsin get over 1000 players and bring in 80 - 96 diamond tables and run awesome events. But it takes the players to create these great events. I hope everyone tries to get qualified and participate in either singles or the team events.

A lot of players have been qualified to play in a "State BCA tournament" a lot of players continue to pay for sanctioning for this season and still we do not have a state tournament. This has been 1.5 years now how long until AZBCA falls off the map?

We may not have 1000 players but we do have Great competitors and had a few teams and individuals do extremely well at the BCA Nationals event. Even winning there division.
Is our $15 sanction fee just used to feed other states and the national tournament? We deserve a tournament

It is going to be tougher to gain participation the longer we keep getting the run around
What stroke?

I'm proud to say that YES we will be having a State Tournament this year in Arizona!

I actually spoke with Ric at Bad Boy Productions today about it. They have signed a deal with a local Casino (Phoenix Area) and are working out he details of dates and such as we speak. The word I'm hearing is that it will most likely be around August or September. One of the great things Ric told me was that they were adding TONS of $$$$ and that we would need to promote the hell out of it.

We didn't have one in 2009 at all because of many reasons. First off the event was pulled/given up by the previous persons in charge of running the event for one reason or another. Bad Boy Productions was signed on as running the event as they do to for so many other states. I know they worked very hard with many different locations, but just couldn't agree to terms with a Casino/Room to host the event up to par with what Bad Boy Productions Standards were.

They finally got to terms with a great Casino and just have to finish up the final terms before we blast the information all over the place.

The $15 goes to the BCA to put on numerous events, not just the nationals. There is also a Western BCA Tournament, Midwestern BCA Tournament and others. I hope we can get a HUGE Turnout at our State Event this year. Some other states get HUGE response, so maybe we can work together to get the most players involved!

So This billiard season June 1, 2009 - May 31, 2010 we did not get a tournament.

but if we pay our $15 sanction fee for next year June 1 2010 - May 31, 2011 We will be allowed to participate.
I wonder if BCA will allow players to participate with ther 09-10 memberships.

I am glad to hear that something is happening, I have just heard all of this before.

My understanding is that any player that has qualified (Played 8+ weeks in one session of BCA), in the 2009 season will be qualified. So you need to have played and paid the $15 BCA Sanction fee once from June 2009 through the start of the Tournament. There is even a chance that they might let people in from the first part of 2009 to build numbers, but I wouldn't rely on it and have people get sanctioned now.
